Curriculum Vitae:
Provide a photograph and resume that lists your creative work in the theatre and related areas.
Personal Statement:
The personal statement is an opportunity for you to tell us about your academic and career direction and goals.
Be sure that you answer the question that is asked on the application. Make a case for why you will fit into a particular program and what you will be able to contribute, rather than just what you hope to receive.
Recommendation Letter:
Most schools require two to three letters of recommendation. At least one should come from a professor in your area of study. If you are changing departments, it is important to have a letter from someone who is teaching in that department.
You can send reference requests to your recommenders through the online application, or you can provide your references with a paper recommendation form.
Start asking for recommendations as early as possible. It can sometimes take professors a long time to complete a recommendation, and they may need a gentle reminder of their commitment to you.
Acting Pieces:
Prepare two 2-minute acting pieces. One should be a selection from a verse drama (preferably Shakespeare), and the other should be a contemporary selection. (All potential directing students must prepare an acting audition as described above, unless they are going through the U/RTA interviews)
Other Documents:
Provide copies of reviews, photographs, prompt books, and other materials that demonstrate your technical skill and creative ability in the theatre.
