Transcript:
We require that you scan and upload a transcript from each university that you attended. The institution's name and expected or conferred degree must be visible on the transcript. If you already graduated then the conferral date must appear on the transcript or you will need to include a scanned image of your diploma with your transcript. Photographs of transcripts are not acceptable. It is very important to ensure the uploaded transcript is readable. An illegible transcript will delay our review of your application. Note that separate transcripts for units that were transferred from a previous institution are not required if the courses, units, and grades are included on the transcript you submit.
Curriculum Vitae:
Your resume or CV is a great way to supplement your application by providing the admissions committee with additional information about your qualifications. Common information found in a resume or CV include honors, educational accomplishments, relevant work or research experience (if applicable), and interests.
Personal Statement:
The statement of purpose should convince readers– the faculty on the selection committee– that you have solid achievements behind you that show promise for your success in graduate study. Think of the statement of purpose as a composition with four different parts. Approximately 500 to 1000 well-selected words (1-2 single space pages in 12 point font) is better than more words with less clarity and poor organization.
Recommendation Letter:
We only accept three letters of recommendation. Including more than three letters of recommendation will result in a delay with your application review.Recommenders may be either academic or non-academic and should be able to evaluate your potential for graduate study and can comment on your potential to succeed in a doctoral program. Once you add a recommender to your application, he or she will receive an email with instructions to upload their letter. You may submit your application after all three recommenders have been added to your application. You do not need to wait for your recommenders to upload their letters before submitting your application.
Personal History Statement:
The personal statement should give concrete evidence of your promise as a member of the academic community, giving the committee an image of you as a person.
This is also where you represent your potential to bring to your academic career a critical perspective rooted in a non-traditional educational background, or your understanding of the experiences of groups historically under-represented in higher education and your commitment to increase participation by a diverse population in higher education.
